How should I package my shipment?
Under normal transportation conditions your package may be handled multiple times and processed by machinery and heavy equipment. Properly packaging your shipment for transportation is vital to ensuring that your shipment arrives at its destination safely and damage free. PEI provides you with general guidelines for packaging your shipment.
How long will it take to get to my destination?
This depends on the destination and service level offered to this location. Usually airfreight shipments can be transported to most destinations in 1-to 3 days, and ocean shipments between 1 to 2 weeks.
My shipment arrived incomplete or damaged, what do I do?
First, you should notate the shortage or damages on the delivery receipt that you sign when your shipment is delivered.
The second thing you should and must do is notify Acco Foreign Shipping of the shortage or damages. There are strict time limits in which to file a claim for loss or damage so you will want to be sure that we are notified immediately.
Third, in the event of damages – throw nothing away – keep everything, all inner and outer packaging materials and documentation. Depending on the amount of the claim or the commodity the claims adjuster may want to inspect the shipment packaging material and documentation. Without them the claims adjuster may find cause to reject your claim.
Lastly, take pictures to support your claim. Even though you take pictures you may think that is enough for an insurance adjuster. Insurance companies are sticklers when it comes to paying out claims, so keep that packing material, we can almost guarantee that the adjuster will want to take a first-hand look at it.
What should I do if my shipment contains dangerous goods?
You should notify us in advance of moving the shipment so that we can advise you of the regulations set by the FAA for transporting dangerous goods. Our staff will make sure your shipment is handled in accordance with the most current and up to date regulations.
